A lot of us today face huge amounts of stress in our lives. Each of us has our own ways of dealing with the pressure involved with our busy schedules. We look forward to that two day break at the end of each week to unwind and relax, relieving our bodies of the stress from the rest of the week. While some people simply spend time at home in front of the television, others prefer to leave their homes and explore the great outdoors. This can be done in the form of camping, hiking or backpacking. Backpacking is an interesting outdoor activity as it involves long walks, camping and great views of the outdoors – something busy people usually miss out on.
You can go backpacking with a bunch of friends, which will keep things more alive and fun. Solo backpacking is also an option, though it may not be as fun as doing it with friends. In addition, solo backpacking with friends would mean that you have to handle all of the hard work involved with backpacking. For instance, putting up the tent at night will be tougher than doing it with a bunch of friends around to help, when solo backpacking. We humans are creatures who have got used to a world indoors. Our houses with their comforts like a toilet, electricity, furniture etc. are no longer luxuries. Although they were luxuries once upon a time, to most of us now, these are basic needs in our day-to-day lives. Therefore, when backpacking it is important to make sure you take all the equipment you will need. Solo backpacking would mean you have to carry all the equipment yourself. Backpacking with a group of friends on the other hand will allow you to distribute the equipment so you do not have to burden yourself.
Solo backpacking can, however, be interesting as well. When backpacking alone, it is possible to get a different experience than backpacking with friends. It is just you and nature. The chit chat that is inevitable when backpacking with friends will no longer interfere with the sweet sounds of birds calling out to each other. At the same time, with solo backpacking, you will have to face the dangers posed by nature on your own. You will not have an extra set of eye, ears or limbs to help you get rid of any threats you might come across. Solo backpacking is, therefore, recommended only if you are experienced with the backpacking and the outdoors.
